The origins

Founded in 1984 by a group of boys and girls to produce organically and sell directly to the consumer, IRIS is a cooperative of working members who, inspired by IVO TOTTI teachings, "precursor" and "pioneer" of Organic Agriculture in Italy, always develop their agricultural capacity, with the intent to promote the methodologies and techniques of agriculture biologica.Per its research activities, IRIS is often the subject of great interest and debate, thus promoting the spread of their application and becoming a point of reference for the national and international sector.

Where we are

The company is located in Corteregona Calvatone province of Cremona, in the south-eastern part of the Po valley, far from industrial and artisanal settlements and from heavy traffic streets.

It covers about 40 hectares within the Natural Oglio South Park on the border with the 'WWF Oasis "Le Bine", bordering on a' area of ​​archaeological and historical importance, Bedriacum old Roman settlement already mentioned by the poet Virgil, and therefore in an area subject to restrictions and safeguards that protect the environment and nature, the best place then to a farm that has chosen to produce organically and focus on the quality of their productions.

the crops

Vegetables and IRIS cereals are grown exclusively on the cooperative land-based Calvatone and their commercialization is entrusted mainly to MERCABIO, a manufacturer company fully dedicated bio, of which IRIS is involved, and the headquarters is located at the Agribusiness Center from Bologna.

Processed products for the production and the marketing of products processed from IRIS brand - PASTA, FLOUR, PRODUCTS FROM OVEN AND PROCESSED TOMATO - was born in 1999 ASTRA BIO. It is headquartered in Calvatone and is controlled by the Cooperative IRIS.

The company has as its primary objective the control of the entire supply chain for each of the processed products in order to ensure not only the absolute traceability, and above all high quality while respecting the authenticity and freshness of the ingredients used.

The new acquisition "THE PASTA FACTORY" Since May 2005, the Cooperative IRIS acquired the Pasta Factory "PASTA Nosari", with headquarters and factory in Piadena (CR), located only 6 km. from the place of Calvatone, with which already closely collaborated for a decade. With this acquisition the cooperative realized in full in order to guarantee its customers the direct control of the entire production chain of organic pasta quality.

Today, in fact, IRIS grows part of durum wheat, and monitor storage at a mill of trust, determines the manner and dimolitura times. For our pasta making internal procedure takes no more than two days from the milling of Gritta grani.Maurizio presents the IRIS cooperative Calvatone (CR), an all-organic choice.
